Philipp Timischl The Blair Bitch Project 2013, Poster, Flatscreen, Painting

The Blair Bitch Project

Gossip Girl, that guilty pleasure. I watched all the episodes and of course I think I could have spent my time doing other stuff. Like I just as well could have used something else to fill these forms with content. (I was thinking about it).
But after all, it was there and I like it. A bit like theater. I found a great screenshot, and I think the show's intro is really nice, so maybe it's a homage.

I will take a picture.

Skin that Drinks

Take a look at the list of notes. You may expect a fairly complex scent with spinning, deep facets - figure you will have hours to detect the layers, pulling them apart, thinking them over. What you get, though, is much more straight-forward: ylang ylang and vanilla. Maybe there's some lily of the valley in there, perhaps coconut and musk, softly. But mostly, ylang ylang and vanilla.

Perfumista bloggers opt for corporate-sponsored poetry of the contemporary. Some of them will notice wet asphalt, watercolor-style impressions of nature, old flannel bathrobe, fresh abstract painting and moist dogs - buried inside tantalizing, sleek bottles. Others will strategically position branded scent among its peers in the history of smell.

Do you like fig? Only iris amateurs will fall for this Guerlain throwaway. This is a simple potion with a milky fig note which almost immediately transitions into a moderately interesting, somewhat doughy, iris note, and then the curtains close. Easy to wear, with tart fruitiness abound, this is a juice that high school teens will wear when they want to pretend sophistication.

Implementation of a smell-identity one can buy - a wearable aura that trails and precedes us in social space. It can end up making you wonder - who are you in the midst of darkness? As perfume branding aims to make a narrative out of the ephemeral and conceives a standby mode for lifestyle, a gap between b-side perfumes and luxury products opens - being stacked into closets on Canal Street, and others risen up on acrylic displays at Sephora. True Reflection (KK) anybody?

The fragrance stays sweet and powdery throughout its development until it vanishes after four hours.

ENERGY PANGEA presents Rare Earth Sculptures : Thulium

Speaking at The Center for Design and Geopolitics, An academic think-tank directed by Benjamin Bratton at Calit2, Peter Krapp described a shift from racial tensions which existed throughout the 19th and 20th century towards a 21st century global environmental consciousness. The shift from racial tension to temperature measurements is part of what Bratton describes as ecologies of scale and planetary computation. Krapp states;

"...indeed one might claim that the complex racial tensions which used to be found in every conical text during the 19th century more recently yield to climate consciousness and global politics. That of course raises the question whether we have simply overcome racial difficulties or whether we're now covering them over"

The rare earth element Thulium Is named after the mythical island of Thule, a legendary Nordic region which existed in ancient antiquity. Like the mythologies which surround other antediluvian regions such as Atlantis, Hyperborea and Mu, the legends of Thule became the focus of spiritual and political upheaval during the turmoils of the 20th century. The Thule Society was an esoteric occult group founded in 1918 by Walter Nauhaus and Rudolf von Sebottendorff - both German occultists and researchers. The society became a precursor to Nazism when it merged with the German Workers Party. The merging of these esoteric and exoteric factions then became the foundations of Adolf Hitler's Nazi Party. Occult and racist fantasies about the far north stemmed from an interpretation that Thule was the ethno-geographical origin of the Aryan Race. Like other legends such as the biblical Nephilim and the Mayan God Quetzalcoatl, the inhabitants of Thule were said to have celestial origins.

However the Aryan category was fabricated through linguistic interpretations and erroneous theories of origin, not genetics. Contemporary interpretations of race have no taxonomic significance as all human beings belong to the same species - homo sapiens. Because races are not biologically valid categories within human populations, race is largely an outmoded social/anthropological system of categorization. If it can be said to be true that racial tensions are being replaced by a planetary ecological awareness then this also parallels growing trends across various fields which favour connectedness such as the complex systems, computational models, diversity, quantum information, algorithms, networks and interfaces which take precedence over binary and outmoded systems of classification. What's more, scientific based models allow for empirical traceability rather than biased interpretation.

In a bid to probe the cosmography, topographies and sympagic ecology of the far north rather than cover it up, Energy Pangea built a device which would symbiotically facilitate radical changes in consciousness and the environment. Based on current estimates, the arctic sea ice and Greenland ice sheet will be entirely free of summer sea ice before 2100 whilst some predictions suggest this is in imminent collapse within the next few years. The unveiling of the topographical arctic landscape yields to the uncovering of geographies which haven't seen ice free summers since the Holocene Warm Period roughly 9,000 to 5,000 years ago. This time-scale corresponds with a cyclic connection to biblical and legendary accounts of the time when the pre-flood civilizations of Atlantis were in optimal maximum, having developed dangerous and unsustainable technologies and practices which were a threat to themselves and the planet. Thus by maximising computational power and data sets that support gnosis over human biases, the sculpture aids the acceleration of navigable algorithmic data as a catalyst for coming cultural shifts which have a symbiotic interrelationship with climate change.

There is only one way for us now.

Partial Map or You Can't Get There But You Can Get Close

... is a multimedia performance in the form of a lecture. The talk explores utopia and paradise as aesthetic vocabularies, their historical genealogies and the ideological and material effects of these archetypal expressions in architecture, cartography, cinema and urban planning.

The parallel relationship between (paradise:utopia) and (past:future) is drawn out in an effort to understand the desire for these structuring strategies. Specific topics include EXPO Shanghai 2010, glass architecture, the history of palm trees in Los Angeles, the search for a Theory of Everything, the ruins of a socialist utopia in the California desert, paradise as mythology and marketing strategy, the Future, and other related topics.

Partial Map is a snapshot of a research-based art practice that seeks to illuminate the mundane by connecting various artifacts of history through a rich network of connective tissue. The Map is an archival narrative, and a narrative archive, both rigorous and mischievous. The Map is always only partial, as maps inevitably are, highlighting its edge even as it seeks to erase it.

This iteration of Partial Map will be staged in Copenhagen from the artist's home in Los Angeles, using dual projections, and the aid of a surrogate medium trained in the art of real-time simultaneous translation.

The Jogging Temporary 2013, Jogging posts printed on A4 paper, food

Temporary

An exhibition of chemically modified photographic prints of popular posts from Jogging is used as wallpaper. Fruit, vegetables, fish and meat are mounted over the decorated walls, each with inkjet uploaded images from Jogging lived up to their surfaces. The exhibition takes place inside perfect gift, a gallery, which was previously a ping pong room (former administrative described as "Ping Pong Room", a room inside the Royal Danish Academy of fine arts, first known as the Royal Danish Academy of portraiture sculpture and architecture school in Copenhagen, a school that was inaugurated on 31 March 1754 and given as a gift to King Frederik V on his 31 ... birthdayeven even though its name was later changed to the Royal Danish Academy of painting, sculpture and architecture in 1771. At the same event, Johann Friedrich Struensee introduced a new scheme in the Academy in order to encourage craftsman apprentices to take additional classes in drawing, in order to develop the concept of "good taste". The construction boom as a result of the great fire in 1795 greatly benefited from this initiative. in 1814, the name was changed again, this time to the Royal Danish Academy of fine arts. There is still in its original building, Charlottenborg, located on Kongens Nytorv inCopenhagen. School of architecture is located in the former Naval buildings on Holmen since 1996.
